The first of its kind in South Africa, our butter cleansing oil is formulated with grass-fed ghee and castor oil. We decided to incorporate ghee in our cleansing oil, thus keeping with our belief that animal based fats and oils are the most similar to our skin's own lipid profiles. Ghee, regarded as holy medicine in Ayurveda, is rich in bio-available, fat soluble vitamins, feeding your skin while castor oil, because of its high ricinoleic acid content, detoxes buildup from your pores. Oil cleansing is based on the principle that "like dissolves like", making cleansing with oil highly effective without altering the pH levels of your skin and disrupting your skin barrier. Oil cleansing also regulates oil production as your sebaceous glands signal to your brain to either produce more oil (if you have dry skin) or to produce less oil (if you have oily/acne prone skin). We particularly love butter and took it to the next level in adding it to our skincare regimen. 50ml of cleansing goodness ;).
